Space to Grow

What: Space to Grow is an exciting new project at Black Grove Farm within our Black Grove Greens Market Garden and is a safe space to heal, reconnect and grow.

How: Improve your health and well-being through gardening and connection to nature with a focus on mindfulness, based in our gardens, fields and woods.

We’ll be growing food and practising mindfulness. Both of these are known to reduce anxiety & depression, help to get through difficult life transitions, with recovery from previous addictions, reduce isolation, improve confidence and aid recovery from long term health issues.

Who: This project will be good for you if your mental well-being is getting in the way of normal life and you’d like to learn mindfulness techniques and get involved with gardening to help with this. You’ll also need a basic level of physical fitness ( so you can walk on uneven ground and undertake light gardening tasks) be able to self manage and be happy to be outside all day (we have a sheltered area for breaks).

We use organic and regenerative growing practices so we will be healing the land as well as ourselves.

No previous knowledge of gardening or mindfulness is needed and there will be a range of heavier and lighter tasks available to suit everyone’s needs. All sessions are COVID- secure.

Contribution: This is all free, you’ll be contributing by helping us grow tasty vegetables for local people.. We’ll provide hot drinks and a tasty soup at lunchtime and you can bring your own food too. Do bring your own mug/cup.

When: On volunteer days some are mid week and some are at the weekends
